Course Introduction

Are you interested in antique jewellery? Would you like to gain deeper knowledge and skills related to it? If so, this workshop is designed especially for you!

AGIL has invited internationally renowned antique jewellery expert Dr. Jack Ogden to conduct the sessions in person. He will guide participants through the history, materials, and identification techniques of antique jewellery, leading you on an exciting journey of exploration.

 

During the workshop, more than 20 precious antique pieces, each over 300 years old, will be showcased. Every piece reflects the artistry of a different era. You will have the opportunity to personally examine and appreciate these jewels, gaining valuable knowledge and hands-on experience.

 

Dr. Jack Ogden is a British expert on the history of jewellery materials and techniques. He has written extensively on related topics and has taught around the world. He is the founder and former chairman of the Society of Jewellery Historians, holding a PhD from Durham University, where he focused on Greek, Roman, and Byzantine Egyptian gold jewellery. In addition, he holds diplomas in Gemology and Art, Law, and Ethics from the Institute of Art and Law, both earned with distinction. Dr. Ogden is also an elected Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London and a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Arts Scholars.
