Programme Aims:

This programme designed for students to explore commonly seen gemstone materials and various materials required for jewellery production. It covers foundational knowledge, including gemstone identification, material pairing, and the characteristics and applications of different gemstones. The course emphasizes procurement techniques for jewellery products and accessories, helping students master the balance between jewellery production and market demand. Students will learn how to effectively assist in procurement tasks within the jewellery industry, from material selection to product application, meeting the practical needs of production and sales. Course Content

 

Admission Requirements:


1. Completion of the new education system Form 6 or the old education system Form 5, or equivalent qualifications;
2. Or completion of Form 3 or equivalent qualifications, with two years or more of work experience in the jewellery industry;
3. Or aged 21 or above with two years or more of work experience in the jewellery industry.


Class Hours:


30 hours of face-to-face instruction;
3.5 hours of assessment time;
60 hours of self-study,
totaling 93.5 hours.

This course is eligible for the "Continuing Education Fund," and qualified applicants can receive up to HK$10,180 in reimbursement, meaning after the refund, students only need to pay HK$2,620.00 for this course.

 

Certificate Awarding:


Students must meet the following graduation requirements to receive a graduation certificate:


(i) The total attendance rate must reach 80% or above; and
(ii) Must pass both the mid-term and final assessments with a score of 70% or above.

 

Course Assessment:


• Project Work (30%): Students must identify suitable suppliers as instructed and complete a supplier information form. Students have one opportunity to resubmit the project work.
• Mid-term Written Exam (30%): Multiple choice (15%); short answer questions (15%). Students have one opportunity to retake the mid-term exam.
• Final Written Exam (40%): Multiple choice (20%); short answer questions (20%). Students have one opportunity to retake the final exam.
