Programme Aims
This course is designed for students aspiring to a career in the jewellery industry, those seeking to enhance their gemmological skills, and enthusiasts with a passion for fine jewels. The course aims to provide practical knowledge, enabling participants to confidently work in jewellery retail stores, design studios, and workshops. The curriculum comprehensively covers gemstone types, characteristics, commonly used gemstone varieties, features, and quality, and incorporates the International Diamond 4Cs Grading System. Students will learn to correctly use gemmological instruments and tools to obtain accurate data and information, and through practical gemstone and diamond authenticity verification exercises, will master the skills to preliminarily analyse and verify gemstone varieties and authenticity, providing professional support for jewellery production, design, quality management, logistics, and procurement operations.

2. 12 Types of Gem Testing Instruments
3. Knowledge of 28 Common Gem Products
4. Imitation Stones, Synthetic Gems, Treated Gems, and Composite Stones
5. Gem Testing Techniques (Conventional Instruments and High-Tech)
6. Mid-term Assessment
7. Diamond 4C Grading System (Internationally Recognized GIA and CIBJO Systems)
8. Identification and Grading of Treated and Synthetic Diamonds (HPHT and CVD Synthetic Diamonds, Laser Drilled and Filled Diamonds)
9. Final Assessment

Admission Requirements
1. Completion of New Senior Secondary (NSS) Form 6 or the old academic system Form 5 or an equivalent academic qualification ; and
2. At least 1 year of work experience in the jewellery industry; or
3. Completion of a course on general knowledge of gemstones; or
4. Passing an entrance exam on general gemstone knowledge.

Totlling 120 hours.

*Each student in the 'Certificate in Gem Identification Essentials (QF Level 3)' course will be provided with 25 hours of free additional internship time during the study period.

This course is eligible for the Continuing Education Fund, with qualified applicants able to receive up to HK$11,140 in reimbursement. After the reimbursement, students will only pay HK$3,260 to take this course.

Certificate Award:
Students must meet the following graduation requirements to receive a certificate:
(i) Achieve a *minimum 80% attendance rate; and
(ii) Attain a *passing score (70% or above)* in both mid-term and final assessments.

• Theory Multiple Choice Questions (10%);
• Theory Short Answer Questions (10);
• Practical Questions (30%). Students have one retake opportunity for the mid-term assessment.
Final Assessment (50%):
